Coalition leaders are expected to meet on Tuesday evening to discuss when to dissolve the Knesset, amid a series of disputes inside the government, especially rising tensions with the ultra-Orthodox parties.
According to the report, Likud and Religious Zionism do not want to grant the ultra-Orthodox the legislation they are demanding, because they fear public backlash so close to the election. At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not want to push the situation too far and is trying to preserve the bloc he leads, so that the coalition parties will enter the election united.
The meeting is taking place against a backdrop of internal strain in the governing camp, with the central question being whether to move forward with dissolving the parliament and, if so, when that should happen.
