Israeli Court Postpones Hearing on 500 Dunams of Land Dispute in Maghar

A significant land dispute involving over 500 dunams (approximately 123.5 acres) in the town of Maghar has been brought before the Central Court in Nazareth. The court session, originally scheduled for September 23, 2026, before Judge Shaher Atresh, has been postponed to December 16, 2026.

The case centers on a claim by residents of Maghar that land was transferred in the 1990s through a waiver made in their name without their consent. Those bringing the lawsuit argue that this transfer was illegitimate and illegal.

The lawsuit names the State of Israel and the Israel Land Authority as defendants, seeking the return of the disputed lands to the rightful owners. Attorney Hussein Ali Zughair, representing the claimants, stated, "We are committed to the rights of the landowners and will continue to follow this case with all seriousness before the judiciary, with the aim of reaching the truth and achieving justice for the rights holders. This case concerns property rights that we consider fundamental, and we will continue to present all documents and legal arguments before the court, respecting the law and the rights of the people of Maghar."
