Pakistan’s foreign minister said that talks in Islamabad produced an agreement to reduce Iran’s uranium enrichment level from 60% to 0.7%. He described Iran’s position on uranium as flexible during the discussions, and said the American demand was to hand over Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, which Tehran refused to transfer to the United States.
According to the minister, the neutral proposal was not to surrender the material but to dilute the enrichment level. He said he spoke with Rafael Grossi about the possibility, and that it was agreed the enrichment would be lowered to 0.7%. He added that the stockpile is trapped under rubble and must be extracted first.
The comments came as one of three technical teams that began operating on the day of the talks started discussing the issue. The remarks suggest the uranium question is being handled through technical follow-up after the initial political discussions in Islamabad.
