Natalie Portman Voices Support for Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families Forum

Actress Natalie Portman marked International Peace Day by expressing her support for the Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families Forum, an organization that brings together families who have lost loved ones from both sides of the conflict. In a social media post, Portman shared her admiration for the forum's members, stating, "Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost their dearest loved ones and refuse to let this grief turn into more violence." She highlighted their commitment to reconciliation and peacebuilding, emphasizing their efforts to foster shared humanity.

Portman, who holds Israeli citizenship and was born in Jerusalem, also recalled her previous support for the Arab-Jewish political party "A Dem for All" (Mish: A Dem LeKulanu) in July. The party ultimately decided not to run in the upcoming Knesset elections to avoid splitting votes. During a Zoom call with activists at the time, Portman voiced her distress over the "unjust policies and conduct" affecting people in the region, including Jews and Palestinians.

She described herself as a Jewish woman with Israeli citizenship who deeply loves the people, land, and future of the region. Portman urged a fight against despair, advocating for partnership, equality, and hope over politics of fear and division. She acknowledged the activists' bravery in protesting war, demanding the return of hostages, opposing destructive conflict, and advocating for children in Gaza, safer streets, and fair wages.

Last October, Portman referred to a hostage and Palestinian prisoner exchange as a "historic day."
