Jewish Activists Hold "Atonement Prayer" for Gaza Genocide in Brooklyn
Hundreds of pro-Palestinian Jewish activists gathered in Brooklyn on Yom Kippur for an "atonement prayer for the sin of genocide in Gaza." The event, organized by groups including "Jews for Racial and Economic Justice" and "Rabbis for a Ceasefire," also preceded an upcoming visit to New York by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"We are a group of Jews who say no to ethnic cleansing, no to man-made hunger, no to the use of American taxpayer money to destroy entire families. War criminals have no place in our city, this holy week or any other," stated Democratic Congressional candidate Brad Lander, an ally of Mayor Eric Adams. This marks the third consecutive year for the solidarity demonstration with Gaza residents, according to Religion News Service.
New York City, home to the world's largest Jewish community, has a mayor, Eric Adams, who has previously taken an anti-Zionist stance and accused Israel of genocide. He denies that such statements incite violence against Jews.
