State prosecutors on Sunday filed an indictment in the Beersheba District Court against Raazi Aloubra, 26, of Rahat, accusing him of murdering 17-year-old Anan Abu Eid in April last year and injuring the victim’s older brother, 22, whom he allegedly abducted in the trunk of a car. Aloubra was arrested only about a year later in the Palestinian Authority territories.
According to the Southern District prosecution, led by attorneys Adva Levi Witzgan, the case stems from a conflict between Aloubra’s extended family and Abu Eid’s family over suspicions that the victims and their relatives were involved in stealing weapons from Aloubra’s family. The indictment says the dispute had already led to attacks on the victim, his brother and their father, with demands that the stolen weapons be returned.
Prosecutors allege that on the night of April 27, 2025, Aloubra and others tailed a car carrying Abu Eid and his brother through Rahat in an attempt to locate and recover the weapons. When the car stopped, Aloubra and two armed men got out, approached the driver’s window and, after trying unsuccessfully to open the door, fired several close-range shots into the vehicle. One of the other gunmen also opened fire. Both brothers were hit.
The indictment says Aloubra then climbed into the car through the driver’s window and fought with the occupants, during which his face covering came off. After the vehicle crashed into a wall, he opened the passenger door while another gunman tried to pull him and Abu Eid’s brother out. Additional assailants then arrived in other cars, overpowered the brother and his rifle, dragged him into the trunk of one vehicle and fled. He was later found injured in Rahat and taken for treatment in moderate condition. Abu Eid died at the scene after failed resuscitation efforts. He was struck by one bullet that entered through his back and damaged his heart and lungs, and another that hit his leg.
Aloubra is charged with murder of a minor under aggravated circumstances, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. The case was investigated by the Negev district police unit and the Rahat police station. Prosecutors also asked to hold him in custody until the end of proceedings, saying there is a substantial risk he would flee, especially since he was found only after escaping and staying in Palestinian Authority areas for about a year.
