Hours before the wedding canopy, organizers say there is grave concern around the marriage of an orphaned bride and groom, with the wedding set to take place today and the situation described as critical. According to the fund’s activists, they do not have the minimum funds needed to hold the celebration tonight, and they are urgently appealing to the public for immediate help.
They say the event is effectively stuck because even the most basic expenses have not yet been paid. The call asks people to donate whatever they can, with 350 shekels presented as a suggested contribution, in order to make sure the wedding can proceed with dignity.
The groom has a special background: he grew up from his first day in the home of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, described in the article as “Maran Sar HaTorah,” and his son, Rabbi Yitzhak Shlomo Kanievsky, recently spoke about him. He said, “It is an orphan and an orphaned girl who are marrying, and the boy grew up here in the house from the day he was born, together with all his family. And Abba zt”l, the father and mother zt”l, raised them from the day they were born, all those years. And now, thank God, he is about to get married, there are many, many problems in that family.”
Rabbi Yitzhak Shlomo Kanievsky added that after his father’s death, the family has no one else to help them: “The boy is getting married after Rabbi zt”l passed away and they have no one to help them.” He also promised that anyone who helps the couple will be blessed in return, saying God will show mercy on them and that there will be no orphans in their own families. Organizers say donors now have the great merit of helping to bring joy to the orphaned couple on their wedding day.
