Yesh Atid Lawmaker Blames Party's Support Drop on Failure to Force Early Elections

Knesset Member Vladimir Beliak of the Yesh Atid party stated that a decline in his party's support is partly due to the opposition's inability to bring about early elections, a move many voters expected, especially after the October 7th attacks. Beliak explained in an interview with Boris Mirkin on MIG TV that voters anticipated the opposition, particularly Yesh Atid as the largest opposition party, would do everything possible to change the government and hasten elections.

While acknowledging the opposition's achievements, Beliak admitted they failed in this primary political objective. He noted that from a parliamentary arithmetic standpoint, forcing early elections was nearly impossible, but conceded, "It is very difficult to fight this public narrative, and we are paying the price for it."

When asked if Yesh Atid's decision not to join the government at the war's outset, unlike Benny Gantz, was a mistake, Beliak described it as a principled choice. He acknowledged that the party understood this decision might have electoral consequences, concluding, "Sometimes in politics, you have to pay the price for your principles."
