Israeli Communications Minister Slams Channel 13 Sale Approval
Israel's Second Authority for Television and Radio recently approved the sale of control in Channel 13 to the Merit fund, a high-tech group headed by Assaf Rappaport. The decision followed professional examinations and negotiations led by the Authority's Director General, Uri Sherf, and his team, who considered funding sources and the channel's operational continuity.
However, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi strongly criticized the approval, deeming it "illegal." In a post on the social media platform X, Karhi stated that the council which made the decision acted unlawfully. He further asserted that the Israeli government had decided to cancel the decision and its consequences, adding, "The risk is on you. Success for all of us at your expense."
