Trump Cuts Vacation Short Amid US Preparations for Yemen Strike

President Donald Trump abruptly ended his vacation at Camp David on Saturday, returning to the White House. This move followed a security incident where an F-16 fighter jet intercepted an aircraft that had entered the restricted airspace around the resort. Simultaneously, Defense Secretary Pete Haggett also cut short a sports event in Texas to return to the capital. The hurried return to Washington occurs amid heightened tensions and U.S. preparations for military action.

The Saudi-led coalition announced that the Houthis had launched a ballistic missile toward Riyadh at dawn. Following this, CNN reported, citing correspondent Alex Plitsas, that the U.S. is planning a broad strike against the organization in Yemen as retaliation. Amid these preparations, the Houthi militia reported that 73 of its members, including 25 officers, had been killed, bringing the declared death toll for the organization since mid-July to 413.

In response to the developments, the U.S. State Department issued an unusual warning, cautioning that the conflict is expected to escalate rapidly. The U.S. urged its citizens to reconsider travel to the Middle East and warned that Iran and its proxies could target diplomatic facilities, civilian airports, and American destinations worldwide.

This alert was also reinforced in Israel. The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem announced that while consular services are operating normally, it is advising its citizens to stay updated on flight statuses from Ben Gurion and Haifa airports. Additionally, the embassy urged Americans in Israel to locate the nearest shelter and download the Home Front Command application.
