Hapoel Jerusalem Downs Maccabi Petah Tikva 4-2 in High-Scoring Match

Hapoel Jerusalem secured a dramatic 4-2 victory over Maccabi Petah Tikva on Saturday evening, fueled by a hat-trick from striker Nadim Varasna. The win came in a thrilling, high-scoring game at the Moshava Stadium.

Varasna opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a powerful volley. Hapoel Jerusalem extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal from Andrew Idoko in the 16th minute and another from Varasna in the 34th, capitalizing on a goalkeeping error by Maor Erlich.

Maccabi Petah Tikva mounted a comeback attempt in the first half, with Jose Cortes scoring from a Liran Hazan assist just before halftime. Hazan then scored himself in the second half, narrowing the deficit to 3-2 and raising hopes of a comeback against his former team's coach.

However, Varasna sealed his hat-trick and the win for Hapoel Jerusalem with his third goal, again exploiting a defensive mistake. The fourth goal effectively ended Maccabi Petah Tikva's challenge. Hapoel Jerusalem managed the remaining time effectively to secure the three points, heading into the international break on a positive note after a disappointing previous match.
