Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz nearly conceded a spectacular goal from midfield during a match on Saturday. In the 55th minute, Wrexham's Paul Mullin spotted Peretz far off his line and attempted a shot from the halfway mark. The ball struck the crossbar and bounced out, narrowly avoiding the goal.

Despite the ball hitting the woodwork, the referees awarded a goal kick, not a corner, to Peretz's team. However, English media and commentators, reviewing replays, argued that Peretz had indeed touched the ball, deflecting it onto the crossbar. This led to significant controversy and protests from Wrexham players and fans.

Reports from the English press indicated that Peretz made a difficult backward-diving save to prevent the ball from entering the net. Even some Southampton players reportedly congratulated Peretz on the save. Wrexham itself tweeted about the incident, highlighting Peretz's fingertip save.

Southampton acknowledged the save, stating, "What a save by Peretz, he managed to push Mullin's shot over the bar (and yes, we were given a goal kick)."
