Prominent Rabbi Urges Soldiers to Prioritize Torah Study
Rabbi Benjamin Houtha, a prominent Sephardic halachic authority, addressed hundreds of soldiers from the Hasmonean Brigade during a gathering at the Great Synagogue in Ramat Gan on Thursday. The event served as a preparation and inspiration session ahead of Yom Kippur.
During his address, Rabbi Houtha delivered a lesson on the concept of repentance and the laws pertaining to the Sukkot holiday. He emphasized the critical importance of consistent Torah study for the soldiers.
"If a day passes for you without several hours of Torah, even if you have returned from a difficult march, you have failed," Rabbi Houtha stated. He further explained, "The milk you have nursed since childhood is Torah, and you must not skip it at any cost."
The gathering aimed to provide spiritual guidance and reinforcement to the soldiers as they prepared for the upcoming High Holy Days.
