NBA star Kyrie Irving has stepped in to cover a $11,941 fine imposed by the NFL on Houston Texans player Azeez Al-Shaair. Al-Shaair was penalized for writing the name "Hind Rajab" on his eye black during a recent game, a violation of NFL rules prohibiting unauthorized personal, political, or humanitarian messages. The fine was issued under Rule 8 of the league's equipment regulations.

Al-Shaair's gesture was a tribute to Hind Rajab, a five-year-old Palestinian girl killed with her family in Gaza, whose tragic story has become a global symbol. This is not the first time Al-Shaair has faced penalties for similar actions; he was previously fined for writing "Stop Genocide" on his face.

Irving, a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, announced on social media platform X that he would pay the fine in full. While NFL regulations typically forbid external payments for fines, reports indicate Irving will present the amount as a personal gift to Al-Shaair to offset the financial loss.
