Curaçao made history by collecting its first point ever in a World Cup after drawing 0-0 with Ecuador. The Caribbean side, the smallest country ever to appear at the tournament and making its first qualification this year, held on for the result in a Group 5 match.
The game was played in Kansas, where Ecuador dominated possession and chances but could not find a breakthrough. Ecuador finished with 28 shots on goal, compared with 10 for the underdog Curaçao, yet the score remained goalless.
