Tenth Annual Challenge Race Honors Memory of Snir Hashin

The story · English

Hundreds are expected to participate in Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park on Friday for the tenth annual "Challenge Race" in memory of Snir Hashin. Hashin, an Ironman athlete, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in 2010 while cycling during training.

The race, which begins at Snir's home, will bring together hundreds of members and volunteers from the Etgarim Association, who participate in the association's running and walking groups throughout the year. A ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the event, attended by Hashin's family and close friends.

"A decade of the Snir race is a special moment for us, practically embodying Snir's great belief in the human spirit and love for every person, whoever they may be," said Nir Cohen, CEO of the Etgarim Association. "We are proud to continue this tradition with hundreds of the association's members and volunteers, who prove anew every day that the human spirit is stronger than any limitation."

The Etgarim Association, founded in 1995, works to integrate and empower children and adults with disabilities through challenging outdoor sports. During the recent war, the association also launched dedicated groups for those injured physically and mentally. The organization offers activities nationwide in sports including cycling, running, walking, sailing, diving, climbing, kayaking, surfing, and open-water swimming, with thousands of participants and over 1,500 volunteers annually.
