Journalist Advises Gadi Eisenkot to Stay Silent on Palestinian Statehood

Veteran Israeli journalist Razi Barkai has advised Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yisrael" party, to conceal his true political views, particularly regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state, until after the upcoming elections. Barkai argued on the "Bechira Zone" program on Channel 13 that Eisenkot needs to appeal to right-wing voters, specifically those from the Likud party, to gain additional Knesset seats.

Barkai suggested that Eisenkot should adopt a "bunker strategy," refraining from discussing sensitive issues like a Palestinian state, which he believes would alienate potential right-wing supporters. "He doesn't need to convince you or me," Barkai stated, addressing his co-host, "but Likudniks. If he starts playing the Palestinian state issue, it won't help him."

According to Barkai, this approach is crucial for Eisenkot to secure "two or three mandates from the right to the center." He believes that by remaining silent on controversial topics and focusing on broader appeal, Eisenkot can effectively transfer votes from the right-wing bloc to his centrist party.
