Young Israeli Voters Prioritize Housing Over Security, Poll Finds

A new poll by the "Israel 2050" organization reveals that economic and social issues, particularly housing affordability, are the top priorities for young Israeli voters ahead of elections. National security, traditionally a dominant concern in Israeli politics, has significantly receded in importance for this demographic.

Among respondents in southern Israel, the desire for a stable future and the ability to settle in the region superseded security concerns. The study found that 75% of young voters would consider supporting a party they hadn't previously considered if it offered long-term solutions to pressing issues, with 19% stating they would do so without reservation.

Housing costs emerged as the most critical factor for 38% of participants when deciding their vote, more than double the percentage for any other issue. Young citizens gave the state a low score of 2.5 out of 10 for its handling of housing. Other significant concerns included the education system (16%), the general situation of youth (13%), and transportation (8%), with only 4% prioritizing security.

Politically, approximately 60% of respondents identified as right-wing or center-right, while only 7% identified as left-wing. The majority expressed doubt about the government's ability to secure their long-term economic and social well-being, with satisfaction scores across all surveyed areas falling below 4 out of 10. Housing received the lowest score at 2.5, followed by education and transportation at 3.5, and the general situation of youth at 3.9.
