Chinese Electronic Warfare Jet Flies Over Saudi Arabia, Alarming Israel

A sophisticated Chinese Y-9LG electronic warfare aircraft recently transited Saudi airspace, signaling a significant increase in Beijing's military presence in the region and prompting renewed security assessments in Israel. The flight, which occurred in mid-September 2026, saw the advanced aircraft, also known as High New 13 or GX-13, cross Saudi territory near the Red Sea port city of Yanbu before heading east towards Riyadh, en route back to China.
