Soldier Shares Story of IDF Medic Aiding Abandoned Elderly Woman in Gaza

An Israeli soldier has shared an account of an Israeli military medic providing aid to an elderly Palestinian woman abandoned by her family during an evacuation in Gaza's Shati camp. The soldier posted the story, accompanied by a video, on Instagram to counter what he described as widespread defamation and lies against the IDF.

According to the soldier's post, the woman's family left her behind as they fled. "The woman in the picture was abandoned by her family, they simply left her behind," the soldier wrote. "We tried to convince them, yet they left her on the floor."

Despite facing heavy fighting and personal risk, IDF soldiers did not abandon the woman. The battalion's medic reportedly went out under fire to provide her with water, food, and blankets. Later, the command post arranged for her to be placed on a cart to ensure evacuating residents would take her to a safer area.

"Our soldiers saved her life, when her family abandoned her," the soldier stated. He added that the medic "risked his life in a combat zone full of terrorists, went out to her to treat her and try to help."

The soldier expressed shame over individuals from within Israel who he claims spread false accusations without proof, contrasting these claims with the actions of soldiers on the ground. He asserted that this incident, among others, demonstrates that IDF command and soldiers adhere to clear directives to protect the civilian population, even in complex combat situations.
