Knesset Election Committee to Hear Disqualification Petitions Next Week
The Central Elections Committee for the 26th Knesset, headed by Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, announced it will review petitions to disqualify electoral lists and candidates on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. The committee stated that Wednesday's session will run from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM, and Thursday's session from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Several petitions target Arab lists and candidates. The Otzma Yehudit, Likud, and Liberal National Movement parties filed three petitions to disqualify the United Arab List. The HaDemocratim party and the Zulat Institute for Equality and Human Rights filed two petitions to disqualify the Otzma Yehudit list.
Additionally, Otzma Yehudit petitioned to disqualify the HaDemocratim list, led by Yair Golan. The Zulat Institute filed a petition to disqualify the Religious Zionism list, headed by Bezalel Smotrich. Orut HaShachar filed a petition to disqualify the National Democratic Assembly. The Likud party petitioned to disqualify the Joint List and candidate Ofer Cassif. Finally, Otzma Yehudit submitted a petition to disqualify Sami Abu Shehadeh.
