Maya Wertheimer Clarifies Influencer Compensation Practices
Israeli social media personality Maya Wertheimer has addressed public perceptions regarding her sponsored content and recommendations. She clarified that not all products or professionals featured on her social media channels come with a financial arrangement, stating that in some instances, she receives no monetary compensation.
Wertheimer explained that she proactively contacts companies and professionals she works with, anticipating follower requests for details and recommendations. She then negotiates benefits and discounts for her followers who engage through her links. "You have links and you have discounts," she wrote, emphasizing, "I don't get paid for this."
However, she was transparent about her business model, admitting that some promotions do involve receiving discounts in exchange for publicity. She also noted that some professionals she collaborates with are not active on social media and may not fully understand the benefit of offering follower discounts.
This clarification comes amid growing public skepticism towards recommendations from celebrities and influencers. Wertheimer aims to present a more nuanced picture, acknowledging commercial partnerships while asserting that not every shared link, discount, or recommendation signifies a financial transaction.
