Bnei Sakhnin announced on Saturday that Muhammed Abu Younis is leaving his role as club chairman after 15 years, and former long-time general manager Khaled Dukhi will take over. The move had already been reported earlier by Sport 5, and the club said it was now official.
In its statement, the club said the transition followed a “deep, businesslike and responsible discussion” aimed at ensuring the club’s continuity and future. It said Dukhi would lead the club and continue working to advance it, strengthen it, and bring it success in all areas.
The club also thanked Abu Younis for what it called years of dedicated work, exceptional investment, and a decisive contribution to the club’s stability and development. According to the statement, during his tenure he worked to strengthen Bnei Sakhnin’s standing in Israeli football, preserve its financial and managerial stability, and promote values of sport, tolerance, coexistence, and social responsibility.
Bnei Sakhnin wished Abu Younis health and success in his next steps, and welcomed Dukhi into the chairman’s role. The club said it believes he can lead Bnei Sakhnin toward stability, growth, further achievements, and more success in the coming years.
