IDF Prepares for Hamas Retaliation After Targeted Killings in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are preparing for a potential Hamas revenge operation following a series of targeted killings carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip. Among the scenarios being considered is an attempt by Hamas to abduct soldiers, particularly near the "Yellow Line," according to senior Southern Command officials cited by i24NEWS.

The recent wave of killings, which included two brigade commanders, a battalion commander, and several company commanders, is perceived by Hamas as crossing a red line. The IDF assesses that the organization may attempt to retaliate and harm Israeli forces.

This heightened alert comes just hours after the IDF eliminated three Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives in northern Gaza. The IDF stated these individuals were involved in advancing firing methods, planting explosives, and launching rockets toward Israel.

In addition to offensive actions, the Southern Command is reinforcing defensive measures to thwart any attack or abduction attempts. Hamas reportedly views the recent strikes against its command echelon as particularly severe. The IDF is simultaneously engaged in both offensive and defensive operations to prevent any retaliatory actions.
