Daniel Peretz Aims to Bring Joy Through Football

Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz is finding his rhythm with Southampton, who recently secured a significant 4-1 victory over Bristol City in the Championship. This win places the Saints in ninth position with 10 points, trailing the league leaders by just four points. Peretz spoke with the Daily Echo about his relationship with his goalkeeping teammates, including his competitor Aaron Ramsdale.

"He's a great guy," Peretz stated, describing a "really good relationship" on and off the pitch with Ramsdale and the entire goalkeeping staff. He highlighted the positive team energy, emphasizing mutual support and pushing each other forward. Peretz also acknowledged the importance of coach Toni Datkovic's backing, noting that while such support helps a player stay focused, the ultimate responsibility lies in delivering consistent performance.

Peretz shared his life's ambition: "My goal in life is to play and through football to make many people happy." He feels the weight of expectation from both Israel and his current club but finds it motivating rather than stressful. "I have a gift, to do something so popular that can help many," he reflected, valuing his ability to positively impact others through the sport.

Looking ahead to the team's objectives for the season, Peretz expressed confidence. "We are sure of what we can achieve," he said, adding that the team approaches every game with the intention to win. He is pleased with the team's comebacks from difficult situations and their continuous improvement. "We see that we are on the right track, and we must continue to work," Peretz concluded.
