Houthi Representatives Meet US Officials in Oman
Representatives from Yemen's Houthi movement met with American officials in Oman earlier this week, according to Reuters, citing informed sources. This meeting occurred days after the Iran-aligned group seized a strategic stretch of the Red Sea coast in a large-scale offensive.
During the talks, the Houthi representatives reportedly assured the U.S. side that they do not intend to attack American vessels and remain committed to last year's ceasefire agreement. Sources speaking to Reuters indicated that the Houthis also pledged not to target Israeli or commercial ships, with the exception of Saudi vessels.
