New Initiative Bridges Front Lines with Home Front Through Soldier Photos

A new project called "Victory Picture" aims to reconnect Israelis with the achievements and significance of the ongoing conflict by sharing photos and stories from the front lines. Founded by Saraleh Elder, the wife of a reservist and mother of three, the initiative seeks to counter the normalization of war by highlighting the landscapes, historical contexts, and accomplishments of IDF soldiers.

Elder explained that the project was inspired by her husband's desire to show the public what soldiers are experiencing and achieving, beyond the daily reports of threats and complex missions. "We constantly hear that the army is in Lebanon or Gaza, but almost no one knows what's really happening there," she stated in an interview.

The "Victory Picture" project collects photographs taken by soldiers from various fronts, accompanied by historical, biblical, and geographical narratives that explain the significance of the locations. This effort aims to showcase the positive aspects and strategic gains of the military operations, especially in light of the heavy cost of the war. Special posters were even created from the images for the Sukkot holiday.

Elder, who previously served as CEO of the "Mothers of Warriors" organization, sees this initiative as a continuation of her commitment to connecting the public with the realities of the front. She emphasized that understanding the importance of each hill, position, and achievement provides strength and reinforces the connection to the land. The project also offers personal support to soldiers, who feel seen and appreciated through their contributions. Elder acknowledged the personal toll of the war, with her husband serving in reserves and raising three children, but finds strength in the mission's purpose and the connection to the land and soldiers' efforts.
