Chants of 'Remember Khaybar, October 7 Will Return' Heard at IDF Officer's Funeral

Chants invoking historical anti-Jewish violence and threatening future attacks were heard during the funeral of an Israeli officer killed in Gaza. The funeral, held for Lieutenant Colonel Alim Abdallah, the commander of the IDF's Gaza Division's engineering unit, who was killed in combat in Rafah on Tuesday, saw mourners shouting slogans. Among the chants were "Jews, remember what Muhammad did to you in Khaybar. October 7 will return!" repeated multiple times. The reference to Khaybar alludes to a 7th-century battle where the Muslim prophet Muhammad expelled Jewish tribes from the Arabian Peninsula. The slogans directly referenced the October 7th Hamas attacks on Israel. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the day after Abdallah's death.
