Finance Minister Smotrich Accuses Opposition MK Eisenkot of Plotting Left-Wing Government

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has leveled strong accusations against opposition Member of Knesset (MK) and former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. Smotrich claims Eisenkot is secretly negotiating with leaders of Bedouin communities and intends to form a coalition after potential elections, with support from the Arab party Ra'am and its leader Mansour Abbas.

According to Smotrich, Eisenkot's public image as a right-wing politician is misleading. The Finance Minister alleges that behind closed doors, Eisenkot is arranging the formation of a left-wing government, potentially including other opposition leaders. Smotrich warned that such a scenario poses a direct threat to national security, the development of settlements in the Negev and Galilee, and the preservation of Israel's Jewish identity.

Smotrich urged voters to support his political movement, stating that only a strong and numerous Religious Zionist party can prevent the formation of a government led by Eisenkot. Representatives of the opposition have not yet officially commented on Smotrich's statements.

The political climate in Israel remains tense, with party leaders actively exchanging statements as they vie for voter support ahead of possible elections. Experts note that relations with Arab parties are a consistently contentious issue among Israeli political factions.
