US Vice President Vance: Washington Will Defend American Interests in Relations With Israel

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Washington will not shape its Middle East foreign policy solely based on Israel's position, emphasizing that while the alliance remains important, disagreements are inevitable. Speaking at a conference hosted by the "All-In" podcast, Vance acknowledged Israel as a key partner in military technology and intelligence sharing but stressed that the U.S. does not always align with the Israeli government's decisions.

Vance elaborated on former President Donald Trump's approach, suggesting Trump differentiates between U.S. and Israeli interests. He posited that Trump could view Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a valuable partner while disagreeing on specific issues, potentially stating, "Bibi is a good partner, but Bibi and I have different opinions on this." Vance illustrated this by suggesting Trump might acknowledge Israel's rightness from its own perspective but assert the U.S. must act differently.

The Vice President compared the U.S.-Israel relationship to NATO, explaining that partnership does not equate to subservience to an ally's position. "We will cooperate with people, when we cooperate with them, we will disagree, when we disagree. And we will stand up for America's interests," Vance declared. He asserted that this approach fosters rational foreign policy and maintains dialogue with allies even amid differing viewpoints.
