Eco Atlantic CEO Sees Falklands Assets Priced at Zero Amid Market Volatility
Eco Atlantic, an oil and gas exploration company with licenses across the Atlantic, is currently undervalued, according to CEO Gil Holzman. Despite expanding its portfolio and securing major partners like BP, TotalEnergies, and Navitas Petroleum, the company's stock price has declined significantly. Holzman attributes this to market overreaction, particularly concerning the Falkland Islands, where geopolitical tensions with Argentina have impacted investor sentiment.
Holzman explained Eco Atlantic's business model: the company enters exploration licenses early, conducts initial geological work, and then brings in larger partners to fund the expensive drilling phase. This strategy aims to mitigate the financial risk of dry wells, as partners like BP and TotalEnergies validate the geological assessments by investing their own capital. However, the market, Holzman argues, is not adequately valuing new assets, citing the Falklands license as an example where the stock price has fallen below its value at the time of acquisition.
The company's portfolio includes assets in Namibia, South Africa, Guyana, and the Falkland Islands. Recent developments include a deal with BP in Namibia and progress with Navitas in South Africa and Guyana. Holzman emphasized that Eco Atlantic aims to be an exploration company, not a production one, focusing on finding and proving resources before selling them to generate returns for shareholders. He believes the current market valuation does not reflect the potential of these diverse assets.
Holzman also addressed the company's financial strategy, noting its low debt and lean operational costs. He expressed confidence in the company's ability to navigate market fluctuations and geopolitical challenges, highlighting that major partners are still committed to exploration activities. The company is awaiting government approvals for several key deals, which Holzman expects to be finalized in the coming months, potentially boosting the stock's valuation.
