Israeli Strikes Kill 3 Palestinians in Gaza, Including Patient
Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least three Palestinians, including a patient at a healthcare facility, according to medics. In the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, Israeli strikes targeting a vehicle killed at least two Palestinians, one of them a child, and injured seven others. Witnesses reported that some injuries were caused by a subsequent strike near individuals rushing to aid in rescue efforts. A video, unverified by Reuters, appeared to show a missile detonating near at least five men.
Separately, the British charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) reported that a patient was killed at a health center it supports in Jabalia, northern Gaza. MAP stated that an Israeli drone targeted the patient. No Israeli comment was immediately available on this incident.
Earlier on Tuesday, Palestinians mourned two individuals killed in Israeli strikes on Monday: Ahmed Al-Batsh and Raafat Al-Zoumar. Hamas sources and the Israeli military identified Al-Batsh as a local Hamas commander. Medics confirmed Al-Batsh died in an attack targeting his vehicle in northern Gaza. The Israeli military issued separate statements claiming responsibility for killing both men, also describing Al-Zoumar as a Hamas leader. Hamas has not yet commented on Al-Zoumar's alleged affiliation.
During Al-Batsh's funeral in Gaza City, relatives and friends paid their respects. His body was wrapped in a white shroud and a green Hamas flag. An M16 assault rifle was placed on the coffin. A relative, Khalil Al-Batsh, told Reuters that Israel's "cowardly, heinous operation" to assassinate the commander would not end the resistance but would only strengthen the people's resolve.
