Otzma Yehudit Seeks to Disqualify Arab MK Sami Abed Al-Rahman
The Otzma Yehudit party, led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, submitted a formal request on Tuesday to disqualify Sami Abed Al-Rahman, head of the National Democratic Assembly party, from the Knesset. The party's petition alleges that Abed Al-Rahman published an article following the October 7th events that included "praise for the perpetrators of the attacks and support for those convicted of terrorism offenses."
Otzma Yehudit also claimed in its request that Abed Al-Rahman "justified the actions of participants in the 'Guardian of the Walls' events," referring to the 2021 clashes between Israelis and Arabs in mixed cities. Furthermore, the petition accuses him of continuously working to "cancel the Jewish character of the State of Israel."
