Danny Franco has taken his first job outside Israel, signing with Polish club Śląsk Wrocław after leaving Hapoel Holon. The deal was announced on Friday, June 19, 2026, and runs until the summer of 2027.
Franco returns to coaching after a poor half-season at Hapoel Holon that ended with his departure. In his first comments as Śląsk's coach, he said joining the club, with its tradition and history, is “a huge commitment and challenge” and added that he is “excited to start working.”
He said his goal is to build the best team possible, one that will fight on the court for the fans and help everyone be proud while aiming high. “I can’t wait for the amazing atmosphere in the arena,” he said.
Śląsk praised Franco as one of the most respected coaches in Israeli basketball, noting his long career with top Israeli clubs including Hapoel Jerusalem, Hapoel Tel Aviv, and most recently Hapoel Holon. The club highlighted his tactical preparation, team-building and player-development skills, and said he has repeatedly succeeded despite budget limitations.
