Ben-Gvir Eyes Top Job, Cites Leadership Skills
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has indicated future aspirations for the premiership, stating that while he intends to stand by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as long as he is in politics, he does not rule out a future run for the top leadership position. "Afterwards, God is great," Ben-Gvir remarked in a podcast interview, suggesting a long-term vision.
When questioned about his qualifications for prime minister, Ben-Gvir asserted he possesses significant leadership qualities, including courage, determination, and wisdom, which he believes are on par with or even exceed those of his peers. However, he acknowledged a need for more experience and maturity.
Addressing concerns about his temperament, Ben-Gvir dismissed suggestions that he is not "settled enough," describing his character as excellent and very good. He drew a parallel to former U.S. President Donald Trump's frequent use of social media, responding to criticism about frequent calls to journalists by saying, "Trump tweets fifty times a workday," though he clarified this was an example, not a model.
The interview also touched upon Ben-Gvir's personal life, including his childhood, early protests, and how he met his wife, Ayala, whom he famously predicted would become his wife after rescuing her from an arrest during a demonstration.
