Israeli Researcher Proposes Great Pyramid Was Ancient Astronomical Calculator
A new study by independent Israeli researcher Spiro Levi suggests the Great Pyramid of Giza was not built as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu, but rather as a massive stone calculator designed to record astronomical knowledge. Levi's theory challenges the long-held archaeological consensus that the pyramid served as a burial monument, pointing to the empty granite sarcophagus in the King's Chamber as evidence it was never intended to hold a body.
Levi proposes that the pyramid's dimensions, its height, width, and slope, were deliberately chosen to represent astronomical phenomena. Instead of using modern measurements, he employed calculation methods believed to have been used by ancient Egyptians. His mathematical analysis of the pyramid's base and height, using ancient units, reportedly yielded precise correlations with celestial cycles, such as the moon's perigee (27.5 days) and the disappearance of Sirius before sunrise (70 days), a period crucial for the ancient Egyptian calendar.
To support his hypothesis, Levi conducted a computer simulation involving 100,000 randomly generated pyramids. The simulation indicated that only a small fraction, approximately 2.4%, produced numbers aligning with natural phenomena to the same degree as the Great Pyramid, suggesting intentional design rather than coincidence.
Despite the intriguing nature of Levi's findings, which have drawn comparisons to "The Da Vinci Code of Egypt," traditional Egyptologists remain skeptical. They note the absence of any ancient texts explicitly stating the pyramids were intended to store astronomical data and emphasize that the pyramid is situated within a large royal necropolis dedicated to the dead. While Levi's research opens avenues for fascinating theories, the Great Pyramid's secrets remain largely unconfirmed by the wider scientific community.
