US President Donald Trump on Friday again defended the agreement signed with Iran and pushed back against criticism of the memorandum of understanding reached Thursday night. In a post on Truth Social, he said the war had weakened Iran, claiming it no longer had an air force, navy, air defense equipment, radar, or “almost anything else,” and mocked Democrats for saying Iran was now better off than four months ago. He added, “Can you imagine how to get around this? How stupid can people be?”
Minutes later, Trump posted again, writing that the meeting with Iran was not out of desperation, because “Iran was the one that did it.” He said, “They are finished! We will complete the 60 days. They will not get any money, not even 10 cents!”
In recent days, Trump has sharply attacked critics of the deal between Washington and Tehran, after many Republican members of Congress also expressed anger over the terms the United States accepted and the transfer of funds to Iran. He has tried to dismiss the objections and present the memorandum as a success for the United States.
In an earlier post on Thursday, Trump said oil was flowing, Iran would never obtain nuclear weapons, markets were surging, employment was at an all-time high, and prices were falling. He concluded by saying, “Our country is strong, safe, and respected like never before,” and told critics to “Say thank you!”
