Guy Meroz Addresses Controversy Over Anti-Israel Film 'Nezah'
Israeli media personality Guy Meroz has broken his silence regarding the public outcry surrounding the anti-Israel film "Nezah." Meroz, a panelist on the show 'HaPatriotim,' explained that he had not yet watched the film, only seeing a few seconds of released footage. However, he stated that he had observed thousands of reactions online and expressed concern over the intense backlash against the film's creators.
Meroz warned that the current level of incitement and accusations of treason against the filmmakers could lead to violence. "I think we are closer than we have ever been to murder, violence against journalists," he stated. He emphasized that the death of a journalist is as significant as that of a kindergarten teacher or a pharmacist, highlighting the shared humanity and value of all lives.
He further elaborated on the online reactions, noting that some viewers criticized him for his stance, arguing that the filmmakers deserved the harsh criticism and that the public has a right to defend itself and democracy. Some comments suggested that individuals like the filmmakers would have been stoned for treason in the past.
The film 'Nezah' has generated significant negative attention and condemnation, leading to dramatic actions by the Israeli Council for Cinema against it. Meroz's comments come amidst this escalating controversy.
