Footballer's Wife Receives Vile Online Abuse After Derby Goal Celebration

The wife of Maccabi Tel Aviv player Osher Davida, Shir Davida, was subjected to severe online harassment after her husband celebrated a goal against Hapoel Tel Aviv during a recent derby match. Osher Davida scored the second goal in Maccabi's 4-1 victory and celebrated with a provocative "pew pew" gesture, similar to one famously used by Eran Zahavi, directed at Hapoel fans. This celebration sparked a confrontation on the field, leading to a yellow card for Hapoel player Stav Turiiel, who pushed Davida, and later a red card for Turiiel.

Following the match, Shir Davida received extremely hateful messages on her Instagram account from a Hapoel Tel Aviv fan, including death wishes for her and her child. One message read, "Die in gas," and cruelly added, "May your daughter get cardiac arrest in her sleep, I wish you forget her in the car and she dies on your windshield."

Shir Davida responded by posting screenshots of the abuse and offering a financial reward for the identification of the individual responsible. Approximately an hour later, she announced that the minor responsible had been identified and sarcastically asked her followers to "be gentle with him."

The incident sparked outrage online, with many condemning the severity of the abuse. One user commented, "When someone wishes death on a child from serious illnesses and things like that, they shouldn't complain when people come after them or post them online." Another added, "At the end of the day, we need to remember this is just a sport, there is no place for such things in our football."

When questioned about his celebration, Osher Davida stated that he performs the "pew pew" gesture after every goal recently and that it was not intended as a specific provocation against Hapoel fans, though he acknowledged some might perceive it that way. He added that he would have made the same celebration regardless of which goal he scored towards.
