Eliraz Sade Lashes Out at Journalist Anat Saragusti Over Gaza Coverage

Israeli actor Eliraz Sade harshly criticized journalist Anat Saragusti on Tuesday, after Saragusti argued that the world had seen graphic images from Gaza for three years that the Israeli public had not, and called for a film about the conflict to be screened in Israel. Sade responded to Saragusti with strong words, stating, "Go to Syria, you and the world together. We owe no account to you or anyone else. And here I am, being inflammatory. Democracy ends when facing its enemies."

Sade's reaction came after Saragusti discussed a film and the issue of foreign press access to the Gaza Strip. According to Saragusti, "The world saw horrific images from Gaza for three years, which we did not see." She questioned Israel's actions, asking, "If the State of Israel has nothing to hide and everything is fine, why is it preventing foreign press from entering there?"

Saragusti also addressed the possibility of the film being screened in Israel, expressing her desire for the Israeli public to watch it and engage in a discussion. "I hope the film will be screened in Israel. I want us to conduct the discussion professionally and not with inflammatory rhetoric," she said.

Sade rejected her remarks and dismissed the criticism of inflammatory language. In his response, he directly addressed her call for a professional discussion by writing, "And here I am, being inflammatory," and clarified his position that Israel owes no accounting to the journalist or the world. Sade concluded his response with the statement, "Democracy ends when facing its enemies."
