Netanyahu, Lapid Hold Security Briefing Amid Budget Dispute
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Opposition Leader Yair Lapid on Monday for a legally mandated security briefing. Following the meeting, Lapid's office stated that Netanyahu had requested the reopening of the state budget to allocate more funds to the military and security forces. Lapid expressed support for strengthening the army but insisted that the funds should not come from increased taxes on working citizens and conscripts. Instead, he proposed canceling coalition budgets that support those evading military service.
The Likud party accused Lapid of misleading the public regarding the budget discussions.
