Hapoel Beersheba is continuing its preparations for Champions League qualifying and expects all of its foreign players, including Kings Kangwa and Lucas Ventura, to arrive early next week. Defender Guy Mizrahi and midfielder Eliel Peretz, who received extra leave because they were with Israel’s national team, are also due back in Israel.
The main development is that captain Miguel Vitor is likely to remain at the club. The 36-year-old Portuguese center back has expressed willingness to stay in Beersheba and is expected to land in Israel at the start of next week. The club has now opened negotiations with him, and if everything is finalized, he will begin his 11th season with the team.
At the same time, Shai Elias has been offered a new deal, but he has not responded yet and his status has not changed. Another Portuguese player whose future is uncertain is left back Helder Lopes.
For now, Lopes is not returning to Israel, so Beersheba are already looking for alternatives at left back. Lopes, 37, completed his fifth season with the club last year.
