Lawyer Files Police Complaint Against "Nez'a" Documentary Creators

Attorney and social media personality Raz Atia has filed a police complaint against the creators of the documentary film "Nez'a," Yuval Avraham and Rachel Shor. The complaint stems from the film's content, which presents testimonies from soldiers and intelligence officers regarding the IDF's operations in the Gaza Strip during the recent conflict. The documentary, which won a jury prize at the Venice Film Festival, includes serious allegations about the use of force, target selection, and civilian casualties.

Atia's complaint requests that the police investigate whether sensitive security information or material prohibited from publication was disclosed during the collection, receipt, use, and distribution of the film's content. He specifically asked for an examination of the raw footage, the identities of those who provided information, and the nature of the information that was shared and published.

In his complaint, Atia stated that the alleged offenses occurred in the online space and that he learned of the matter via the internet. He emphasized that while criticism and freedom of expression are important, they do not supersede national security or the safety of IDF soldiers. "An international award does not grant immunity from Israeli law," Atia stated, adding that if boundaries were crossed and prohibited information was revealed, the public deserves to know and law enforcement must act.

The IDF has rejected the claims presented in the film. The complaint form lists the alleged offense location as the internet and notes that the film has been published and distributed.
