Long Road Launches Second Hedge Fund Amid Industry Growth
Investment firm Long Road, founded by Shay Egozi, Eitan Kahlman, and Aviad Basha, is launching its second hedge fund, Long Road Opportunities. This move follows the success of its first fund, Long Road Capital, which raised 350 million shekels and is now closed to new investors. Long Road Capital, established in June 2024, focuses on investments in Israeli companies.
The new hedge fund will employ a long-short strategy, primarily targeting companies within the TA-125 index. The growth experienced by Long Road is occurring against a backdrop of increased institutional investor involvement in the hedge fund sector, often through acquisitions of management companies.
Recent examples include IBI acquiring a 50.05% stake in Plutus and Alio's management company for 15 million shekels. Meitass purchased control of Trio Fund's management company for 30 million shekels, and Harel Finansim acquired control of Tulip Capital for 30 million shekels. The largest deal to date involves Menora Mivtachim, which purchased 40% of Agility, managing approximately 2.2 billion shekels, for 200 million shekels, while also committing an additional 125 million shekels to Agility's funds.
