Major Torah Scholars Receive Significant Financial Aid

A significant event honoring Torah scholars saw 1,060 married men, known as "avreichim," who dedicate their lives to Talmudic study, receive financial support totaling one million shekels. The gathering, organized by the "Torato Umanuto" fund under the "Rash Pina" institutions, was described by attendees as unprecedented.

The criteria for receiving the scholarship were stringent: avreichim must study three "sedarim" (study sessions) daily, have no other source of income, and be married with at least three children. The event highlighted the economic challenges faced by these scholars who prioritize their religious studies.

Rabbi A. Salim, a prominent "Rosh Yeshiva" (head of a religious seminary), attended to honor the scholars and acknowledge the efforts of Rabbi N. Deri, the chief rabbi of Beit Vagan and head of the "Rash Pina" institutions. The gathering culminated in joyous dancing, symbolizing "simchas haTorah" (joy of the Torah), with the proceedings broadcast live.

Following the event's success, "Rash Pina" institutions aim to establish a permanent endowment to provide these avreichim with a regular monthly stipend. This initiative seeks to ensure consistent financial stability for over a thousand families devoted to Torah study, transforming the one-time event into an ongoing support system.
