Comedian Israel Katorza Recounts Emotional Toll of Oct. 7

Israeli actor and comedian Israel Katorza appeared on Channel 12's "Special Interview" program, revealing the profound emotional impact of the October 7th Hamas attacks and the subsequent war. Katorza shared that he struggled to cope with the difficult scenes he was exposed to, but felt compelled to maintain a positive outlook and offer comfort to Israelis during the crisis.

The conversation began when a program participant presented Katorza with a custom-designed shirt featuring his image as the "sun of Israel." Overcome with emotion, Katorza stated, "Wow, you really moved me. I went to very difficult places to bring the sun. I saw very, very hard things. If I wasn't in my place, that I have some kind of role, I don't know if I would have done it." He explained that returning home, he reminded himself of his childhood desire to make an impact, drawing strength from the opportunity to "illuminate" and "do good" for others, which he sees as everyone's role.

Katorza also spoke about his close relationship with Eli Bibas, the grandfather of Ariel and Kfir Bibas, who were killed, and the father of Jordan Bibas, who was released from Hamas captivity. Katorza has been a close supporter of the Bibas family since the war began. Additionally, the comedian has been actively involved in efforts to secure the release of hostages and has provided support to families campaigning for their loved ones' return.
