New Radio Program Aims to Showcase Diverse Druze Society Beyond Military Ties
A new weekly radio program, "Sada Al-Nahass" (Copper Sound), aims to present a more comprehensive picture of the Druze community in Israel, moving beyond its well-known association with military service and local cuisine. The program, broadcast by Kan's Makhan network and hosted by journalist Wissam Kayouf, will explore the community's challenges and aspirations, particularly those of the younger generation.
"Sada Al-Nahass" will address pressing daily issues within the Druze street, including struggles with planning and construction permits, land shortages, employment concerns, and the community's status in light of the Nation-State Law. The show will also highlight success stories, entrepreneurship, integration into the high-tech industry, and pioneering Druze women in medicine and academia.
The program's name draws inspiration from a historical and cultural expression symbolizing a connection among Druze people across different locations. Consequently, the broadcast will extend its scope beyond Israel to cover Druze communities in the Middle East, with a focus on Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan, and regional issues affecting the population.
"Sada Al-Nahass" joins other specialized programs produced by Kan for various communities, such as a dedicated show for the Bedouin community in the Negev. To reach a wider audience, the program's content will also be distributed through Kan's digital platforms, including podcasts, video reports, and social media content.
