Holon Handball Club Advances in European Cup

The Holon senior handball club achieved a significant European milestone this past weekend, defeating Albatros Siracusa of Italy twice to advance to the next round of the European Cup. The team continues its European campaign for the 2026/27 season and awaits the draw for the subsequent stage.

Coached by Nissim Peleg and Nadav Haver, Holon displayed impressive performance, character, stability, and determination across both matches. The first game concluded with a 36:32 victory for Holon, followed by a decisive 29:23 win in the second game, securing their progression.

Key offensive contributions came from Orr Levi with 17 goals, Amit Reinberg and Italo Gabriel each scoring 12. Nadav Cohen added 10 goals, Caio Vinicius scored 6, and Loïc Bakos contributed 2. Rif Cohen, Israel Levi, and Roey Djalety each scored one goal.

In goal, Holon benefited from strong performances. Oren Mairovich recorded 36% saves in the first game and 37% in the second, while Orr Knaani achieved 31% saves in the first and an exceptional 57% in the second.

Following these victories on Italian soil, Holon looks ahead to the next draw to determine their upcoming opponent. Coach Nissim Peleg expressed immense pride in his players, highlighting the achievement of winning twice in Italy, especially without the ability to host games in Israel due to the current complex period. He emphasized the team's pride in representing Israel and Holon, demonstrating that belief and struggle can lead to success even in difficult times, and expressed confidence in future achievements.
