Yulan Cohen Departs Channel 12 News for New Police and Legal Desk Role
Israeli journalist Yulan Cohen, known for her investigative work at Channel 12 News, including reports on the Assuta IVF scandal, has been appointed to the police and legal affairs desk at the news company. Cohen's journalistic career began at Kastina, where she worked as an investigator on various programs before joining Keshet's daily show "Anashim" (People) as a team member and investigator. In 2016, she moved to Channel 12 News as an investigator for the weekend news program "Shabat News" with Dana Weiss.
During her tenure, Cohen initiated and conducted several significant investigations and interviews. These included the "Disputed Baby" case, an interview with the father of a child given up for adoption without his knowledge. She also worked undercover as a journalist, posing as a woman seeking employment in a strip club to expose alleged wrongdoings behind the scenes. Her work has been recognized, and she received the 2024 Israeli Journalism Institute award for amplifying the voices of hostages' and victims' families from the Swords of Iron War.
Cohen's personal life has also been marked by significant events. She married businessman and media personality Shay Ben-Meir in 2017. In October 2025, the couple welcomed a daughter through surrogacy, a journey Cohen described on Instagram as a long struggle involving multiple attempts, disappointments, and treatments at Assuta, which she noted was particularly poignant given her reporting on the IVF scandal at the same institution.
