Israel Becomes Top Target for Hackers, Outpacing Ukraine

A new report from Redware reveals that Israel has become the world's primary target for hacktivists, experiencing twice the number of attacks compared to Ukraine. In the first half of the year, Israel faced 784 DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. This surge is attributed to the ongoing conflict with Iran, which has mobilized dozens of additional hacking groups to target Israeli infrastructure.

Approximately 60 groups joined campaigns against Israel, the United States, and Gulf states. Alongside groups identified as pro-Iranian, anti-Western and pro-Russian factions also participated, extending the military confrontation into the digital realm. The hashtag #OPISRAEL was used 469 times across group channels during this period, with over 250 mentions occurring in March alone.

The report indicates that the escalation with Iran not only triggered a new wave of attacks but also broadened the spectrum of actors targeting Israel. DDoS attacks disrupt online services by overwhelming them with traffic, causing slowdowns or complete outages without requiring system penetration or data theft.
